ABOUT

Jonas Damsgård is a freelance photographer and clinical psychologist based in Sweden.

He graduated with a Diploma in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism from the International Center of Photography in New York City, under the direction of Joan Liftin. She inspirationally taught that ‘photography and photo editing are emotional narratives, where meaning comes as much from feeling as from story.’

Jonas seeks to explore the human experience through dual lenses, blending photography and psychology as observational arts. Both disciplines are rooted in the careful study of moments and minds, capturing fleeting expressions and emotions through framing or reflection.

He was also the founding editor of Foto Dimension Magazine, a trilingual publication designed to provide photographers with the opportunity to showcase their images and photo-essays across a generous number of pages.

”I believe that, through the act of living, the discovery of oneself is made concurrently with the discovery of the world around us which can mold us, but which can also be affected by us. A balance must be established between these two worlds — the one inside us and the one outside us. As a result of a constant reciprocal process, both these worlds come to form a single one. And it is this world that we must communicate.”
